Gene Bauer has been designing jewelry since the 1970s; complex and simple, rough and sleek, his metalsmithing goes wherever his inspiration takes him. In his store in Historic Downtown Golden, Colorado, he specializes in creating one-of-a-kind jewelry for his customers seeking something made especially for them.
Gene was one of a small group of jewelers creating handcrafted items in Denver during the resurgence of sterling jewelry as an art form. Goldsmithing was an added skill, which created lasting memories for many art lovers. Gene also worked for stores in Cherry Creek North until he established his own studio there in the mid eighties. Later he spent 15 years in his own store, watching the many changes that happened as the Cherry Creek area grew. Wanting a lifestyle change for his family, he and his wife moved to Golden, Colorado, the home of Colorado School of Mines, western Victorian charm, and the beauty of the foothills.
“I love to design special pieces of jewelry for customers who will cherish them for years to come. I‘ve honed my skills over many years and enjoy creating in sculptural, antique inspired, as well as the current modern trends. Sometimes a stone itself is the inspiration for a piece; other times nature or architecture fill my thoughts and beg to be translated into wearable art.”
